Chicago – I am in love!

Ok, will write this one i english – as I know I have non-Swedish friends who might be interested to know more about the ClickeExpo. As one of my wrists isn’t that well, I’ll just write a short summary. And hey, just deal with the grammer and spelling. 😀

I have fallen in love – completely! The atmosphere here is absolutely fantastic and you can’t even imagine how much knowledge there is. I have had the fortune to be tossed around and presented to all kind of interesting trainers and I just go with the flow.

The lectures I attended yesterday were Ramirez, Sdao and Alex Kurland.

Ramirez, what can I say more than you just want to get into his soul and just gain all his experience! This was a great presentation about different methods how to deal with aggression. I’ve got so much tips and confirmation which I’ll be using  both at my work and in my training classes.

Sdao, first time I met her. Energy! 😀 She went trough the concept of shaping and how important it’s to work with free shaping, at least in some parts of your behaviour. It’s great to become a better observer – watching the behaviour, truly understand all the muscles that is working and how you can see the behavour before it happens! And it gets the animal control which also lets the animal be part of the training – you work together! I use it alot, and encourage you to  use it as well.

Kurland, a absolutely fantastic horse trainer. This was really inspiring to watch. Why she started clicker training? becuse she saw a elepahnt bull stand when getting his feets done. Hey, if they can get a aggressive bull to stand still with just click and treat, why can’t we horse trainers do that too! So, she just went through her basic program and I will definitely recomend her DVDs to my friends who’re working with horses.

That was a tiny, tiny part of day one… now I’m hungry! Breakfast!
